Palestinian Refugees Donate to Survivors of Hurricane Katrina

RAMALLAH -- Palestinian refugees, moved by the plight of survivors of Hurricane Katrina will present US Consul-General, Jake Wallace, with a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross. The donation will be given today (13 September 2005) at 12 noon at the President’s Office in Ramallah.

Dr. Rafiq Husseini, Chief of Staff of President Mahmoud Abbas will offer the donation on behalf of the President and Palestinian refugees. The donation will be earmarked to those survivors most affected by the Hurricane – the displaced poor, elderly and disabled. Money was recently collected by Palestinian refugees in the refugee camps of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Commenting on the donation, President Abbas notes, "On behalf of the Palestinian people and, in particular, the refugee communities of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, I wish to express our deepest sympathy with the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. With our humble donation, we feel it is important to show our concern since Palestinians know all too well the pain and hardship caused by being a refugee. We pray that they will soon be able to return to their homes."

INTERVIEW WITH IRAQUI TORTURED IN ABU GHRAIB

Haj Ali-al-qaysi, the cloak from Abu Ghraib

They made me stand on a box with a robe on my head and arms flat out in the air. They told me they would electrify me. I did not believe them. Then they took two wires and stuck them into my body. I felt like my eyeball was falling out. Then I fell to the ground.

This is the story of Haj Ali al-qaysi, the person pictured all over the world with a black robe as the pictures from Abu Ghraib was revealed. Before his troubles began with the Americans, Ali worked as a mukhtar, that is, a village chief, in his village in the Abu Ghraib district. He used to lecture in mosques; harvest dates and run a parking lot next to the local mosque.
Today, Haj Ali is far from a frightening figure. A warm looking man, it is difficult to imagine how he could be treated or sent to such a destiny as the hellish torture of Abu Ghraib.
“My first problems with the Americans”, tells Ali, “was when I took some empty land and converted it into a playground for the youngsters”. Ali tells that the Americans began bringing rubble from the airport area here, containing among other things human body parts and pornographic magazines. One of the local doctors began reporting of lots of injuries from poor locals, searching through the rubbish for valuables. “Before”, Ali jokes, “I was thinking that the American democracy would be a big playground. But instead they turned it into a rubbish storage for chemicals, human body parts and porn”.
As the responsible for the village he tried to complain about this problem to the municipality. “This”, tells Ali “was the beginning of the harassments”. 30th of October 11 o’ clock in the morning; he was taken away by soldiers in the street where he was working, and put in a hammer jeep. From there he was transported to al-amriyye, an ex-military base for the Iraqi Army and now converted into an American detention center. There he met with a Captain Phillips, who said that “I don’t know which agency has asked for your arrest, but you’ll be held here”. At that time many family members who had heard of his arrest had come to ask for his freedom. Captain Phillips so asked if Haj Ali believed that the people outside would attack. “I don’t know”, answered Ali.

He stayed there in two days, until morning on the third day of his detention, when he was transported with a bag over his head to the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. “Of course, at that time, I did not know where I was” Haj Ali tells. “Before entering into the prison I was inspected in a very humiliating procedure”. The procedure Haj Ali tells about lasted maybe an hour or and hour and a half. The Americans took fingerprints; eyes scan and live samples, before transporting him to an investigation room. “These rooms are actually lavatories,” says Ali, “flooded with sewer. Two interrogators and a translator sat away from me, away from the sewers”. Ali was forced to sit on the bottom of this shithole. The first question he was asked was: “Are you Sunni or Shia?” Ali was put aback. “It was the first time I had ever heard this question” he says, explaining that before in Iraq even in the personal status laws for marriage you are not asked by which religious school you belong.

Secondly, he was accused of attacking occupation forces. To explain, Haj Ali points to his fingers and shows a defect rendering him incapable of handling a gun. “I told them that I was not able to participate, and that they get the phone no. For the doctor who did the surgical operation.”

“Also they asked if I knew Osama Bin Laden”, Haj Ali continues. “I answered that I knew him from TV”. They continued to ask such questions, also about Saddam Hussein. “I felt like they were searching to charge me for something. “Then they said I was anti-Semite, to which I replied that I believe that the Semites are one of the fathers of humanity.” “You know what I mean”, replied one of the interrogators.

After this Haj Ali was told that his capturers knew he was an influential person, that he was a mukhtar in his village and he was asked “why don’t you co-operate with us, we might even give you an operation for your hand”. The interrogator continued to tell that “we are the greatest people of the world, we have occupied you and you should surrender and co-operate”.
As later became clear it seemed the capture of Haj Ali and many others sharing his fate was in fact not to “stop insurgency” but rather to capture intelligence and recruit loyal persons among important persons in local villages and tribal societies. However, Haj Ali did not comply and replied that “if you define yourself as occupiers, then resisting the occupation force is preserved in Islamic law as well as international”.’
His interrogators continued to ask if he would co-operate, for then to continue to threat to send him to a place where “dogs cannot live, or to Guantanamo”.
After this first questioning Haj Ali was put in a lorry, with bags over heads being distributed to the prisoners. One of the soldiers asked out “who are having bags on your heads?” One of the prisoners, a blind man, replied that he did not. This person had also been accused of attacking occupation forces. Then they were pulled down and transported to a place in the prison called “Fiji”. These places were tents, every five tents surrounded by barbed wire and then again by a 15 meter high wall. “Those who were here” says Ali, “were the ones the Americans called a “big fish”.Haj Ali continues to tell about the living conditions. “Every tent has forty people inside, thee is no space, and if you want to sleep you have to sleep on your side. In all five tents about 300 persons lived.”The prisoners was served by portable toilets, which meant that they had to stand in line for two or three hours, the bathroom would have been filled up with grease and excrement before your turn. Other sanitary functions barely existed; in every tent the prisoners’ daily shared 20 liter gallons for all necessities. To drink water they had to use bottles taken from the garbage. “The food was also of very bad quality” tells Haj Ali. “We did not have regular meals, and they enforced collective punishment for individual breaks of discipline. For instance if one spoke with a prisoner from another camp they’d deprive one camp of one meal or force them to stand for a long time in the sun.”At this time” tells Ali, “one of the strange things that happened was with a Sadrist youngster, and his name was sheikh jaber-al-qadi. As all the other in the camp came from Sunni cities like Fallujah, Ramadi and Mosul, he felt isolated. To help mend this we asked him to be our prayer leader, and to call for prayer.” Ali tells that when this happened, the Americans grabbed him, asked “why do you pray with the Sunnis” and beat him up. In this period Haj Ali also met with many groups from different prisons, for instance the Mosul or Baghdad Airport Prisons. He started to see and listen to stories of torture, torture marks; he even heard stories about injecting people with hallucination medicaments to make them see frightening things like scorpions or nightmarish images. I t was at this period that Haj Ali got the idea of forming an association to represent these prisoners. After a while Haj Ali was interrogated again, and again threatened with being sent to Guantanamo or similar places. According to Haj Ali “female soldiers were present, showing parts of her body during interrogation”.
During Ramadan a new form of stress had to be endured by the prisoners. For Muslims the month of Ramadan means that you cannot eat between the rise of sun until it goes down. At this period, the second meal was brought to them just after the morning prayer, which meant that the prisoners had to watch the car waiting until 11 pm. “They intended to break our stamina” is how Haj Ali explains these proceedings, telling that “six electricity generators worked day and night, with a lot of noise. Each generator is connected only to three lamps, which means that they give almost no light, only noise. Of course, in tents there was no electricity”. Then one day his number, 11716 was called, he was cuffed on hands and leg and his head covered with a bag, and then put in a hammer jeep. “When the sack on my head was removed, I saw a long corridor, heard a lot of people screaming from torture. They told me to take off my clothes, my gallabiyye (traditional Muslim men’s wear), then my undershirt and finally my underwear”. When he refused this, five of the soldiers took hold of him and forcefully stripped him.
After this he had to walk for like ten meters, before a staircase. “They wanted me to climb the staircase, but my foot were weak and I could not raise my legs. I fell and they started beating me. I then crawled the stairs. This took me one hour”.
After this Haj Ali was put against a wall and his hands tied to a doorframe in upright position. “Of course, again they beat me, poured urine and dirty water on me, wrote on me, pulled an empty gun at me, used a loud speaker to swear in my ear and clicked the hand cuffs in my ear. I stayed like this until the call for morning prayer”.Come Morning Prayer, a person came and removed the head cover. He talked to Haj Ali with an Arab Lebanese accent and asked, “Do you know me?” “I am well known, I interrogated people in Gaza, the West Bank and in South Lebanon. I have a good reputation: Either I extract what I want or I finish him”.
He was removed of handcuffs and from one of his hands and hung crossover from top to down on at the door of the cell. “I am putting you in the position of the cross” said the interrogator. Now he endured more continuous beating, as well as dirty water. A gun was put in sensitive areas.

Also another person came and removed his head cover. “I could recognize his Arab accent as that of a maghrebi Jew (sephardi), and that is why we say we are victims of American-zionist occupation.
His situation continued like this for three days, changing positions, making him stand on his toes, being told that “his hand would rotten”.
“What I later understood” says Haj Ali, “was that what I was going through was part of an operation called “Iron Horse” aiming at collecting influential people, tribal leaders etc. to work for the occupation” In the third morning again he met with a foreign person, and again he was offered release to conduct operations. “I answered that I have nothing to say” tells Haj Ali. “During the whole period I heard screams, female screams, children screams, whoever would pass me in the hallway would smack me”.
After the midday prayer, they handcuffed him with the plastic strips, took him to a cell and handcuffed him to the bar, made him lay one his back and brought a large speaker. Then they put on the song “by the rivers of Babylon” over and over again, very loudly. “Of course” says Haj Ali, “at that time he wished that they would put the head-cover back on.”
Then after some time the interrogator came to remove the speaker, but Haj Ali could not hear anything. “I still heard the song even if they turned the music off”. Even if he was splashed with water on his head, “I could not hear a word of what the interrogator said”.
Then they made him stand up and extend his arm from the cell barriers and they handcuffed him in that position. “This was the fifth day without food”, tells Ali. So, after a while the interrogator came back and told him that they made a “reception party”. “Later”, tells Haj Ali, “I learned that this is someone everyone is forced through”.

I was put into cell no. 49, “They took a picture of me before they took away the bag-sack and then they took another picture.” “When I looked into the other cells opposed to me, I recognized one of them as an Imam. All of them were without any clothes.” “Don’t worry” they said. “We have been like this for three months”. Haj Ali tried to use some food wrappings as a hide, but the Americans did not let him do this. ”Everyone of us was given a nickname by the Americans” tells Haj Ali. “One of them was “Big Chicken”, another “Dracula”, there was “wolf man”, “Joker”, “Gilligan”. Myself, they called me “Colin Powell”.
Next day, one of the torture charged personnel, Specialist Charles Graner, one of the indicted from the Abu Ghraib scandal, came. Haj Ali had a bandage on his hand to cover a wound, the blood had coagulated. He took the bandage and tore it off his flesh so that it went off in one piece. Haj Ali fell unconscious. “Next day” continues Ali, “I asked one of the female soldiers for a pain killer. She told me to put my hand out from under the door. I thought she wanted to see the hand, but she stepped on it, and told him “this is the American pain-killer”.
After 15 days he was given a blanket. “I tried to use it to cover myself, and my friends congratulated me”. In this compound, called “the quarry” Haj Ali tells that he could hear screams, “when they wanted to send food for the female prisoners” Haj Ali goes on, “they sent naked men, to give to the women”. The female prisoners were hostages for brothers or fathers or sons. “We could hear their screams and do nothing but shout allahu akbar (God is the greatest)”.
After 15 days interrogations were speeded up, the Americans wanted to send them back to get new people, rotating between the quarries and the tents outside. One of his friends asked one of the female soldiers “Why do you humiliate us?”. She answered “this was the orders, to humiliate them in this position.”
After a while they took him to the interrogation room, he found ten people inside, some in military and some in civilian phones. They had telephones with cameras. “At that time I did not think this was possible, and thought they used the phones for recording sound or something” says Ali.
In this room the incident took place that later was screened around the world as an example of the torture malpractices of the American regime. “They made me stand on a box with a robe on my head and arms flat out in the air. They told me they would electrify me. I did not believe them. Then they took two wires and stuck them into my body. I felt like my eyeball was falling out. Then I fell to the ground.”
During this he bit his tongue, the doctor came with his shoe pushed his head-cover away, put water on it. “He saw no cut in the tongue” says Haj Ali, “so he told them to continue.” “Usually”, tells ALi, “the doctors were part of the torture process. They would tell if prisoners faked or exaggerated pains, telling the interrogators to go ahead.” Three times they took him to this room and electrified him five times.
They tied him hands and head to a tube in the ceiling, he stuffed some dry bread in his mouth. took some photographs of him, they took him into interrogation some times as well. During interrogation they would ask him “what do you think of more torture?” Haj Ali would answer that “the more you torture us, the higher our benefit from God will be”.
Haj Ali was not the only one mistreated in this way.” One of the things I saw” tells Ali, “was the imam of the largest mosque in Fallujah, he is 75 years old. They did not get enough of dragging him naked, but also put on female underwear.” “Another story” continues Haj Ali, “was one of the prisoners was ordered to pee, with a sack on his head. When his sack was removed, he saw his father, and this they took pictures of.”
“With the Imam of another mosque” tells Haj Ali, “one of the female soldiers took off her clothes in front of him and asked him to have sex with him. And because he of course refused, the female soldier would put on an artificial penis to rape the guy.”

Haj Ali tells that these prison camps are in fact training camps for the Resistance. “90% of those arrested was usually innocent” tells Haj Ali. “But once they get out they are fully ready to commence armed resistance against the occupiers. Anyone being treated like this or sees his brother or sister being treated like this will be.” Here Haj Ali also stresses the importance of understanding what impact on Arab societies such arrestment and treatment of women has.
After 49 days in the quarry, he overheard from his interrogators that he was arrested by fault and would be sent back to the tent. So the next day one of the soldiers fetched him and put him back to the tent camp. “You’re born again” he said. After going to the tents and being welcomed back Haj Ali tells that he “used two days looking at the sky, trying to make peace with light again, coming from the very dark cells”.
“During my time in cells I lost 38 kilos” tells Haj Ali. “This I can know because when we entered they put a wristband on me telling my weight.”
After this his belongings were returned to him, and he was put in a lorry with a head-sack but now without handcuffs. Then he was pushed out of the lorry. “When I removed the bag from my head I could see I was out on the highway. This is how I knew I were released.”

This is the end of Haj Ali’s story from Abu Ghraib. After he came out and the Abu Ghraib scandal was exposed he was trained for human rights by the UN. He wanted to use his experience to found an association, and went to the Iraqi government to get help, but was told that “there is no such thing as prison mistreatment”.

So they made a foundation conference, with many people and figures, and declared the Association of the Victioms of American Occupation Prisons. The objectives are to distribute info about torture and what is going on in these prisons, help out those who are released, and arrested family to contact arrested. The association is not only focusing on the Americans. “Many of the different prisons are run by private, by mercenaries”, tells Haj Ali. “there are people from all over the world. It is not only the Americans who are guilty”.
“All what is going on in Iraq is a very natural reaction to all these violations” says Haj Ali. “The so-called violence is a very natural response”, he continues. “In the era of Saddam, there were 13 prisons. Now there are 36 run by the government and 200 by the government militias. The Iraqi prisons are worse, we have seen documented cases of fingernail cutting and hand drilling, all under the acceptance of the US government.“
Haj Ali exclaims that “what is being committed in Iraq is a crime also against the European and American people, and they lose face. the torture is going on from all nationalities”. “I don’t blame anyone who grabs a foreigner or kidnaps him” Haj Ali says. “This is a reaction to what they suffered. His association is now working on physical and psychological rehabilitation.
This is not the end of Haj Ali’s story. He will come to Italy 1-2nd of October to tell it to the European Peace and Anti-war movement. And he will continue to tell to all those in the world who can listen about the American torture and malpractices.

HUNGER STRIKE CONTINUES

For the past two days we have been unable to provide daily coverage of the hunger strike. Heavy rains last Friday demaged a tent, making it impossible for us to use our computer.

First problems with the physical condition of the strikers.

Yesterday on the 11th day of the hunger strike some strikers felt ill. Medical evaluations revealed low blood pressure in some of our comrades, due to prolonged fasting together with the stress caused by the uncomfortable conditions surrounding the protesters. This morning all strikers will again be evaluated for vital signs.

Meeting of the organizing committee of the international conference

Despite these problems, yesterday some of the strikers participated in a meeting of the organizing committee of the international conference. The committee decided to call a great assembly in Rome on the 2nd of October in order to continue the current struggle and also as a bridge to reconvene the international conference "let Iraq in peace - support the Iraqi people's legitimate resistance". A separate communique on yesterday's meeting will be issued.

Haj Ali in "Il Manifesto" and "La Republica"

At last several media are giving news about the availability of Haj Ali, symbol of the torture at Abu Ghraib, to travel to Italy to tell his story and to talk about the violence oppressing the Iraqi people.
Friday and Saturday the daily "Il Manifesto" published a lengthy interview which Haj Ali gave to Lars Akheraug of the Norwegian Free Iraq Committee. Today Haj Ali is being interviewed by the daily "La Republica". His situation is now known to everyone. His visa has not yet come through.
Our struggle wil continue to the end.

A summary report on the ongoing struggle can be found in a press communique issued this afternoon, which we are publishing here.

Beyond this we are reporting on a sit in held this morning in front of the Italian embassy in Madrid. A delegation representing Spanish groups that have taken a position on the question of visas was received by the cultural attaché of the embassy. The attaché was informed of the reasons behind the strong protest against Fini's decisions.

We are in the ninth day of the hunger strike and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to stall. In the past few days there have been several informal contacts, but as of today we have not yet received any specific response on the issue of the visas.

Perhaps out of embarrassment for the mess created by Fini, the Ministry refuses to discuss the reasons behind decisions that made clear the nullification of national sovereignty in the face of American pressures.

At the moment the silence of the Foreign Ministry may be assisted by the attitude of the major media and also by the confusion that reigns within the political system. We want to break this silence! What is at stake is our right to oppose the war. The expulsion in the last few days of several Islamic leaders from our country and the closing of an Islamic school in Milano are part and parcel of the same situation. The issue is support for Bush's warmongering, cloaked by measures that amount to persecution and destruction of freedom within the logic of a crusade.
This is the same logic according to which the Italian government wants to prevent an international conference for a just peace in Iraq based on the right of self-determination and on the expulsion of the occupying armies.

It is interesting that at the moment the Foreign Ministry remains silent on the request for a visa for Haj Ali, the symbol of torture at Abu Ghraib, the hooded man with the electric wires attached to his body, the man whose photo was seen around the world.

We made this new request on Friday 2nd of September. Haj Ali today is free and living in Jordan; his Iraqi passport was renewed recently. All of this information is available to the Foreign Ministry.

Does the Ministry want to prevent a victim of American torture to be heard in Italy and in Europe? Has the attack against democracy reached this point in our country? We think that sooner or later everyone will have to answer this question.

It is time for the friends of democracy to sound the alarm. The Foreign Ministry wants to silence those who oppose the war and its logic.

We denounce the situation in order to expose the responsibility that the Italian government has taken on. When it comes to responsibility we all have to take our own. Those who have been silent so far should not think that they can continue to do so. We are taking on our responsibilities by repeating that we will not move from here. And in order to overcome Fini's intransigence we are working on a national assembly of all the groups that support the struggle to obtain the visas.

Estas palabras, desenfundadas por Jorge Teillier durante una entrevista, arrojaban ya en 1994 algunas pistas sobre lo que, desde la acera de enfrente de la poesía, podría ser abordado como un proyecto inconcluso, en el sentido de que, allí donde los aleteos del pensamiento chocan invariablemente con la evidencia de su falacia, los filósofos se consagran a vestir el fracaso gnoseológico con la aparentemente ambigua etiqueta de la estética. En cambio, propongo que sigamos la línea del tren en el sentido opuesto al de la mirada que nos dirige el autor de "Para Ángeles y Gorriones" y observemos, algunos durmientes más atrás, otro disparo que entró por la misma herida, cuando su colega Paul Éluard nos planteó: "Je n'ai pourtant trouvé ce que j'écris dans ce que j'aime". Sobre este punto insistiré próximamente, pero por ahora despidámonos con "Despedida", de este hombre que nos trajo a la misma mesa y nos enrieló entre Lautaro y La Ligua.

HUNGER STRIKE CONTINUES AND SOLIDARITY FROM AROUND THE WORLD ARISES

Having reached the eighth day in hunger strike we have to remark the attempt to silence the reason for our struggle and its goal.

The big media are well informed about the events and often look for us in order to have news and clarifications. The final result however is once again their choice of silence. Although it is no surprise to us, we have to lay stress on the violation of the right of information on events giving rise to great attention also in countries other than Italy.

In order to counter this attempt to silence our struggle, we ask all those who share our goals to act in solidarity in all possible ways. The time has come for you to show up.

SOLIDARITY ABROAD

The seriousness of Fini's decision and the need for a large mobilization goes far beyond national borders. Some actions have already been announced. Protest sit-ins are planned in the next days at the Italian embassies in Madrid, Budapest, Oslo and Santiago of Chile.

إيطاليا: تصاعد الحملة الحكومية لعرقلة انعقاد مؤتمر التضامن مع المقاومة العراقية

بيان صادر عن الهيئة المنظمة لمؤتمر التضامن مع المقاومة العراقية في روما

بعد الرسالة التي وجهها أعضاء الكونغرس الأمريكي بتاريخ 28 حزيران (يونيو) إلى الحكومة الإيطالية مطالبين بمنع انعقاد المؤتمر واعتقال أعضاء معسكر القوى المناهضة للإمبريالية بتهمة "دعم الإرهاب" انتقلت الحكومة الإيطالية إلى الهجوم، حيث قامت مؤخرا برفض إصدار تأشيرات دخول لعدد من الشخصيات العراقية، ويتوقع أن تعمل على إعاقة حصولنا على قاعة لعقد المؤتمر كما فعلت الحكومة الألمانية في شهر آذار (مارس) من هذا العام في محاولة لعرقلة المؤتمر التحضيري الذي دعي إليه في برلين .
في الواقع علمنا بفحوى رسالة أعضاء الكونغرس في خبر نشرته أسبوعية يو إس نيوز الأمريكية بعد شهر من التوقيع عليها، إلا أن هذه الضغوط تبينت لنا لدى إغلاق موقع معسكر القوى المناهضة للإمبريالية على الإنترنت في الأول من تموز (يونيو) من طرف الشركة الأمريكية بنفس الدعوى، ما أظهر بوضوح الضغوط التي يمارسها اليمين الأمريكي لضرب القوى المعارضة للسياسة الأمريكية.
بتاريخ 27 آب (أغسطس) نشرت كبريات الصحف الإيطالية تصريحا لوزير الخارجية الإيطالي فرانكو فيني يؤكد فيه رفض الحكومة الإيطالية إصدار تأشيرات دخول لكل من الشيخ جواد الخالصي (المؤتمر التأسيسي الوطني العراقي) وآية الله أحمد الحسني البغدادي – مرجع شيعي أعلى في النجف، والشيخ حسن الزرقاني (الناطق الإعلامي باسم تيار الشهيد الصدر) والسيد صلاح المختار السفير العراقي السابق لدى الهند و السيد محمد فارس عن التيار الشيوعي الوطني العراقي، معتبرا أن الرفض نابع من أسس الأمن القومي الأوروبي والمعايير الأمنية الإيطالية ومبادئ اتفاق شينغن.

المواجهة مع الحكومة الإيطالية هي في الحقيقة أقدم من ذلك بعض الشيء، وإن اقتصرت في الماضي على الحملات الصحفية التي اعتادت على شنها صحف اليمين وبعض صحف اليسار الحكومي كل عام لدى انعقاد لقاء معسكر القوى المناهضة للإمبريالية في مدينة أسيزي شمال روما، إلا أنها بدأت فعليا في العام الماضي حينما صممت الحكومة على تصفية معسكر القوى المناهضة للإمبريالية واعتقلت مورينو بيسكانيللي وماريا غراتسيا أرديزوني الناطقين باسم المعسكر بتهمة مساندة الإرهاب، وقد رافق الاعتقال إغلاق موقع الإنترنت الخاص بالمنظمة ومصادرة الوثائق، وتزامن مع حملة أوروبية طالت ناشطين من الجبهة الشعبية الثورة التركية DHKC في كل من بلجيكا وألمانيا وهولندا، وتم وقتها تقديم الحملة كتفكيك لخلايا إرهابية، رغم الإفراج عن معظم الناشطين لعدم توفر الأدلة، واستمرت القضية ضد بيسكانيللي مفتوحة إلى أن تم نقضها مؤخرا أمام القضاء الإيطالي. وقد واصلت وسائل الإعلام المقربة أو المملوكة في معظمها لبرلسكوني حملتها المسعورة ضد المعسكر، هذه الحملة التي ازدادت شدة مع حملة "العشرة يورو للمقاومة" وتبلغ اليوم ذروتها مع الدعوة لانعقاد المؤتمر.
بنفس الوسائل التي لا تختلف عن الوسائل "البلطجية" التي تلجأ إليها ديكتاتوريات "العالم الثالث" تمت في ألمانيا في العام الماضي معاملة السيد فادي ماضي أحد الداعين إلى المؤتمر الأول للقوى العربية والإسلامية في أوروبا، حيث قامت وقتها الحكومة الألمانية وبدون أي سند قانوني بمنع انعقاد المؤتمر في برلين وباعتقال فادي ماضي وإلغاء تأشيرة إقامته وترحيله إلى لبنان بدون أية محاكمة، ولا يزال ماضي إلى اليوم في صراع حقوقي مع المؤسسة الألمانية الحاكمة في سبيل إلغاء أمر الإبعاد ولكي يتمكن من العودة إلى عائلته وزوجته الألمانية.

ربما كان من أهم إنجازات المقاومة العراقية أنها تمكنت بفعل ضرباتها الموجعة ولعجز المحتلين عن القضاء عليها رغم العنف الغاشم الذي تمارسه الولايات المتحدة وحلفاؤها، تمكنت من شق التحالف الغربي والإجماع الرسمي على ترسيخ أو شرعنة احتلال العراق ودعم المشروع الأمريكي، وهانحن نرى اليوم قوى تشكل جزءا من المؤسسة الحاكمة في إيطاليا تطالب بالانسحاب الفوري من العراق، ونفس هذه القوى لم تعارض المشاركة الإيطالية في العدوان بشكل يذكر ولم تستيقظ إلا على إيقاع ضربات المقاومة. نفس القوى التي كانت تعتبر المقاومة إرهابا وتعمل على حصار من يؤيدها في أوروبا، بدأت اليوم تبدي استعدادا للحوار مع الأطراف التي تمثل المقاومة. بل أن موضوع الحرب ومشاركة الدول الأوروبية في حروب خارجية أضحى من أهم المواضيع الانتخابية في جل بلدان أوروبا حيث يسعى كل حزب لإقناع الناخب بعدم رغبته بالاشتراك في أية حرب (بعد أن كان رفض حكومة شرودر في ألمانيا الاشتراك في الحرب والأزمة مع الولايات المتحدة إحدى نقاط الهجوم عليه من طرف المعارضة قبل عامين!). أي أن المقاومة قد تمكنت فعلا من كسر الغرور الأوروبي وتحطيم العنجهية الاستعمارية التي كانت تدعي نقل الحضارة إلى الدول عبر حروب سريعة تقضي على معاقل الدكتاتورية والإرهاب، كما بينت المقاومة ثمن التحالف مع الولايات المتحدة في مخططها العدواني بعد أن كان هذا التحالف يعد حنكة سياسية وأمرا لا يرفضه إلا متهور.
إذن فالمقاومة قد تمكنت نوعا ما من فرض منطقها على السياسة الأوروبية، وهذا نراه في إيطاليا اليوم بوضوح من خلال وعود حزب المعارضة على لسان برودي بسحب القوات الإيطالية من العراق في حال فوزه بالانتخابات، بل من خلال تصريحات برلسكوني نفسه رغم أنها لم تخرج عن إطارها الشعبوي الآني.
وفي هذا السياق، ولعلمنا بمحاولات الحكومة منع المؤتمر، قمنا بكشف الأوراق إعلاميا وبتقديم لائحة بأسماء الشخصيات المدعوة للمؤتمر وتم الاتصال بوزارة الخارجية من أجل الحصول على الموافقة على تأشيرات الدخول، وقد تجاوبت الوزارة في الحقيقة مع هذا المطلب، ما اعتبرناه تغيرا في موقف الحكومة ورغبة منها باتخاذ موقف أكثر اعتدالا خاصة بعيد تفجيرات لندن، ثم تم تبليغنا رسميا بعدول الحكومة عن إصدار تأشيرات الدخول، وكان هذا على بفعل الضغط الأمريكي على ما يبدو. بعد هذا التحول وجهت القوى المنظمة للمعسكر رسالة إلى رئيس المعارضة الاشتراكية برودي مطالبين إياه باتخاذ موقف سياسي واضح من المؤتمر وإبداء استعداد علني للقاء الممثلين الحقيقيين لشرائح المجتمع العراقي إذا كان صادقا في موقفه المناهض للاحتلال وبوعده سحب عساكر إيطاليا من العراق.
في إطار حملة المساندة للمؤتمر قامت قوى التضامن التركية بتظاهرة أمام السفارة الإيطالية في إسطنبول احتجاجا على سياسة الحكومة الإيطالية، ويتوقع خروج تظاهرات أخرى في كل من المجر والنمسا وألمانيا، كما دعت قوى التضامن في بيروت إلى مؤتمر تضامن مع المقاومة العراقية في بيروت في حالة منع انعقاد مؤتمر روما.
بتاريخ الحاد والثلاثين نم آب (أغسطس) بدأ ناشطو وناشطات لجان "العراق الحر" في إيطاليا، يترأسهم المنسق العام بيوناردو ماتسي، إضرابا عن الطعام واعتصاما مفتوحا أمام وزارة الخارجية الإيطالية في روما. في الأول من أيلول (سبتمبر) عقد المنظمون موتمرا صحفيا طالبوا فيه بإصدار تأشيرات دخول لحضور المؤتمر لكل من:
· الشيخ جواد الخالصي، رئيس المؤتمر التأسيسي الوطني العراقي
· آية الله الشيخ أحمد الحسني البغدادي – مرجع شيعي أعلى في النجف
· السيد صلاح المختار، السفير العراقي السابق لدى الهند
· الشيخ حسن الزرقاني، الناطق الإعلامي لتيار الشهيد الصدر ورئيس تحرير صحيفة الحوزة التي أغلقها الاحتلال
· السيد د محمد فارس عن التيار الشيوعي الوطني العراقي
· السيد د إبراهيم الكبيسي، شقيق عبد الجبار الكبيسي رئيس التحالف الوطني العراقي الذي خطفته قوات الاحتلال الامريكي

لقد اتبعت وزارة فيني برفضها إصدار التأشيرات إملاءات أعضاء الكونغرس الأمريكي الذين طالبوا بمنع انعقاد المؤتمر، ضاربة بعرض الحائط ليس فقط السيادة الوطنية الإيطالية، بل أيضا أبسط الحقوق الديمقراطية بحرية التعبير السياسي لشخصيات لا تجرؤ على المساس بهم حتى الحكومة الدمية التي صنعتها الولايات المتحدة في العراق.
نحن نتفق مع فيني على أنها مسألة تتعلق بالأمن القومي الإيطالي، ولكن هذا الأمن ليس مهددا من ممثلي الشعب العراقي، بل من فيني نفسه وحكومته التي تضر بالشعب الإيطالي بمساهمتها في العدوان الأمريكي على العراق.
إننا نؤكد على موقفنا بأن السلام ليس ممكنا إلا بالاعتراف بحق الشعوب بتقرير مصيرها وبالحوار مع ممثليها الحقيقيين أي هؤلاء المناهضين للاحتلال.
هذا هو هدفنا من عقد المؤتمر، ومن يمنع المؤتمر فعليه أن يتحمل العواقب.

Tuesday, September 6th - 10 a.m.

This is the last day in the first week of our hunger strike. We are
still in good shape and receive a lot of solidarity.

Prodi should speak out.

We gave a statement to the press yesterday about our request to meet
Romano Prodi, in order to ask him to openly express his mind about the
refusal of the visa. Fini's decision to refuse the visa is very serious
because it implies the end of even a show of national sovereignity and
because it is a violation of the constitutional right to the free
expression of thought. A clear position is therefore required from everybody,
the more so from a person campaigning to rule the country.

The hunger strike is also aimed at opening an honest and public debate
about the future Italian policies on Iraq and about the defence of
democratic liberties in our country endangered by the US attempt to impose
its imperial claims all over the world.

The letter from Iraq

In the same statement we informed the press about the task we have been
given as organizers of the international conference to hand over a
letter to Romano Prodi written by 26 Iraqi personalities and organizations
representing a very large section of forces opposing the military
occupation.

The signatory persons address Prodi directly in view of "a real chance
to launch a constructive and fundamental dialogue within the political
elite about the moral responsibility of your country following the
ongoing Iraqi tragedy, which is a consequence of the American occupation".

The Italian press chose today not to write about this letter (the only
exception is the PRC daily Liberazione where an article was for the
first time devoted to our struggle today). We believe that this silence is
the sign of widespread political embarrassment.

Statement by Claudio Martini

The president of the Toscana region, Claudio Martini, released some
declarations on the international conference and the refusal of the visa.
Martini says that the government should "state the reasons for refusing
the visa to the Iraqi speakers" and clear the table "from any suspicion
of preemptive censorship or limitation of the right of information".

These are in our opinion clear words aimed at stopping the attack to
the conference led in Toscana by Forza Italia. Martini declared also that
the request made to him by Forza Italia (in a motion at the Regional
Council) to prohibit the conference was unacceptable.

De acuerdo a lo que comentaba en la publicación de la Ale, creo que es necesario rescatar la historia de la izquierda chilena más allá de la lucha contra pinochet, más allá de la UP. Creo que debemos llegar al punto inicial de la historia que hizo la clase obrera en su camino a la emancipación que alcanzó a asomarse en la Unidad Popular, es por eso, que me permito publicar ( con el copyright de recabarren) dos artículos de la prensa obrera firmados por Luis Emilio Recabarren allá por 1912. Cuentan como se fundan 2 organizaciones cooperativas. Una es Tipográfica (donde se imprime El Despertar de los Trabajadores) y la otra es de Pan, en la que los obreros del puerto de Iquique pueden comprar Pan barato. Léanlo, es un antecedente histórico que permitió nuclear gente en torno a la causa.

Acaba de salir a )a luz pública un nuevo periódico que viene a servir los intereses delos trabajadores, de los proletarios y en general a divulgar una doctrina que conduzca, a por el mejor camino de la fraternidad social de los pueblos.
Este periódico es EL DESPERTAR DE LOS TRABAJADORES. Esta nueva publicación que nace. Es propiedad de una Sociedad de trabajadores.
Organizada bajo la base de acumular un capital de diez mil pesos y que lleva por titulo:
Sociedad Cooperativa Tipográfica
que al mismo tiempo de ser propietaria de eme periódico, es propietaria de i valioso y bien montado taller tipográfico, que está instalado en Iquique en la Calle Barros Arana., 9 y que tiene un seguro por diez mil pesos, pudiendo aumentarse en la primera oportunidad.
El seguro está en las Compañías La Ibérica y La Española, y en caso de incendio los accionistas salvarán su capital.
Tanto e taller como el periódico, necesitan de la protección de todos los trabajadoras y es menester que esa protección no se niegue.
Es verdad que la clase trabajadora ha sido muchas veces explotada en su buena fe y entusiasmo para ayudar obras que parecen buenas, pero esta vez se ofrece a la clase trabajad6ra un taller establecido cuya maquinaria y útiles valen en más del doble del capital que se proponen acumular loo trabajadores.
Esta ventaja de organizar un capital para apropiarse de una industria en actual movimiento, es la mejor garantía que se puede ofrecer a los trabajadores. Por eso pedimos su concurso. Por eso le advertimos que no deben dejarse engañar por la propaganda contraria que se hace para que no se apoye esta nueva obra de los trabajadores.
Los trabajadores tienen ahora un periódico que les es propio y cuya dirección y administración está en sus manos. Su deber es buscar para esta nueva hoja nueva
Cada trabajador debe encargarse 1 buscar suscriptores. Por mucha que sea nuestra pobreza, debemos dedicar unas pocas monedas para mantener la vida de esta publicación que sirve al pueblo sano y honrado.
Los enemigos del pueblo se disfrazan y queriendo aparecer como proletarios, se entre nosotros para desviar la marcha de los obreros hacia el progreso.

Huracan Katrina: un mal del neoliberalismo?

El pasaje devastador del Huracan "Katrina" deja como saldo tres estados de la Union en el suelo: le Mississippi, la Alabama et la Louisiana. Las imagenes mostradas por la television dans muestras de la amplitud de esta catastrofe natural, sin embargo poco se sabe de las otras causas que bien podrían haber sido controladas para evitar un daño mayor a los tres estados antes mencionados. Particular y dramático resulta la situación en New Orleans, donde los muertos y dammificados se cuentan por miles ségun la propria Cruz Roja.
El mundo es testigo de como la potencia mundial, y agresora de los EE.UU, no puede dar soluciones a sus conciudadanos. El sueño del "American Dream" resulta ser un embrujo para muchos quienes no conocen la realidad de un país donde existe una fractura social enorme entre sus habitantes. Es asi como miles de seres humanos viven en la completa indefención en el país más rico del mundo. En efecto, el pasaje del Huracan "Katrina" pone al desnudo esta fractura social donde pobres y ricos viven al amparo del principio juridico de la "igualdad" legal, que no exprime (mas bien esconde) la brecha social de ese país. Los Estados del delta del Mississippi son pobres, particularmente aquel de la Louisiana donde mas del 67% de sus habitantes son de origen afro-americano. Asi mismo, más del 30% de la población vive debajo del sello de la pobreza (ingresos minimos para no caer en la categoría de pobre) , cuando el promedio nacional bordea el 13%. Sin entrar en discusion del como se calcula la pobreza en los EE.UU, o el sello de la pobreza, las cifras existentes demuetran las sendas diferencias que existen entre los habitantes de los estados de ese país. De hecho, la Louisiana es un estado compuesto mayoritariamente por personas de color y pobres. Las disparidades en ese estado también quedan al desnudo cuando se miran otros "males" sociales. Asi, la Louisiana registra la taza de mortalidad infantil mas alta del país y parecida a la de aquellos paises considerados en "vias de desarrollo". Los bebes nacidos en este estado registran grados de desnutricion enorme, y ademas existe un número elevado de madres monoparentales viviendo debajo del sello de la pobreza. La delincuencia aquí resulta "normal", en uno de los estados mas violentos de los Estados Unidos. En regla general, el "otro" EE.UU es aquel mayoritariamente pobre, demunido, sub escolarizado, analfabetos funcionales, con obesidad morbida y negro.
Un país de mas de 300 millones de habitantes, de donde 50 millones no tiene acceso a ninguna cobertura médica. Pero que sin embargo gasta anualmente mas de 500 mil millones de dolares U$ en defensa.
Y el lien con el neoliberalismo? Como es sabido, en los años 80 los apostoles del neoliberalismo encabezados por Ronald Reagan y Margareth Tatcher llevaron a cabo enormes transformaciones al denominado " Estado Providencia" argumentado la fuerte necesidad de terminar con el intervencionismo del estado en la economia del pais. Aun se escuchan las proféticas frases de Reagan cuando fué electo presidente: " lo mejor que puede hacer el estado por si mismo es no intervenir". Es asi como bajo su administración se llevaron a cabo un sin numero de privatizaciones, de recortes presupuestarios en los programas sociales, politicas impositivas regresivas en favor de los sectores mas acomodados etc.
El paso del Huracan "katrina" se vió favorecido por las desiciones politicas tomadas en su momento. Ya desde 1940, todas las adiministraciones de la Casa Blanca han desarrollado un politica sistemática de transformación del Delta del Mississippi para desarrollar los recursos energéticos de esa región. Estas politicas energéticas "han facilitado el desarrollo de la producción, el refinaje et transporte de petroleo" (1). Para ello la "Army Corps of Engineers" han desviado los cursos de aguas, han secado importantes porciones de lagos y ríos, todo para favorecer al capital privado. Desde hace unos 20 años las autoridades de esos estados han tratado de enfrentar posibles inundaciones tratando de restaurar los medios naturales transformado por el desarrollo anarquico del capitalismo. Los requerimientos? 20 mil millones de U$ que la administración Reagan desestimó porque había que reducir los gastos del Estado..
Mismo, George Bush rechazaría en el año 2000 contribuir con 30 millones U$ para reforzar los diques de conteción del canal.
Lo que hoy día es posible de apreciar en esta catastrofe, no solo es la dimension "natural" de los hechos, sino ademas de como detras de esta catastrofe los axiomas neoliberales que rigen el mundo actual están también detrás de esta tragedia que toca a miles de seres humanos pobres en su mayoría. Dicho sea ademas, la tragedia del "Katrina" deja al desnudo las desigualdades sociales y el desprecio por la vida humana, mas aun cuando se trata de ciudadanos afro-americanos. Asi mismo, y en medio de la tragedia, el discurso lleno de prejuicios raciales que tildan a miles de personas de delincuentes porque roban en supermercados o tiendas para poder sobrevivir despues de 4 días sin comer! Por otra parte, el Huracan Katrina demuestra que los cambios climaticos en el orbe no son un delirio de los verdes o de greenpeace, sino el resultado de un desarrollo economico anarquico que sur explota los recursos naturales. En este sentido, los EE.UU se estan curando con su propia "chicha".
Finalmente, y despues de 4 días, la adiministración Bush comienza a enviar ayuda para evitar caer más en las encuestas, quizás a sabiendas que más del 70% de los hombres negros no tienen derecho a voto en EE.UU por haber pasado alguna vez en la cárcel.

Dispuesta Cuba a enviar másde mil médicos a socorrer a víctimas del huracán Katrina

El Presidente cubano Fidel Castro reiteró la voluntad de cooperar con el pueblo de Estados Unidos, y anunció la disposición de enviar más de mil médicos para socorrer a las víctimas del huracán Katrina en los estados sureños norteamericanos afectados tras el paso de ese meteoro.
Dijo al respecto que Cuba está dispuesta a enviar en horas de la madrugada de esta noche (viernes) cien médicos generales y especialistas en Medicina General Integral, quienes estarían al amanecer de mañana sábado en el aeropuerto internacional de Houston, Texas, el más cercano a la región de la tragedia, para ser transportados por vía aérea, pluvial o terrestre hacia los puntos aislados de refugio, instalaciones y barcos de la ciudad de Nueva Orleáns donde se encuentren poblaciones o familias requeridas de atención médica urgente o primeros auxilios.
Añadió que dicho personal iría equipado con mochilas que contendrían 24 kilogramos de medicamentos esenciales en esas situaciones para salvar vidas, además de instrumentos mínimos de diagnóstico.
Señaló Fidel la experiencia de los médicos cubanos para actuar en circunstancias adversas. Podrán actuar aislados, dijo, o en grupos de dos o más personas y según las circunstancias por el tiempo que sea necesario.
Anunció también que, de igual forma, el país caribeño está listo para enviar por la vía de Houston o cualquier otro aeropuerto que se le indique 500 especialistas en Medicina General Integral adicionales, igualmente equipados, que llegarían a sus puntos de destino en horas del mediodía y de la tarde del sábado tres de septiembre.
Anunció seguidamente que un tercer grupo de 500 especialistas en Medicina General Integral podrían ser enviados, quienes arribarían en la mañana del domingo cuatro de septiembre.
De este modo, precisó Fidel, 1 100 médicos de estas características con los recursos señalados, que equivalen a 26,4 toneladas de medicamentos y recursos diagnósticos estarían prestando sus servicios a las personas más urgidas de atención tras el paso del huracán Katrina.
Este personal médico dispone de la experiencia internacional y de los conocimientos idiomáticos elementales para atender a los pacientes, dijo también el Presidente cubano en la tarde de este viernes en la Mesa Redonda informativa que se trasmite a través de la radio y televisión cubanas.

¡Hemos triunfado!

Tenemos a nuestro frente un porvenir plagado de brillantes expectativas.

Los ideales militares se desmoronan y van al abismo.

El pueblo se liberta, corta sus cadenas y se yergue gritando hosanna a la justicia, el arte y la poesía.

Nadie quiere matar. Nadie quiere manchar sus manos y su conciencia con la sangre humana, con la sangre hermana.

Nadie quiere ser asesino.

Nadie quiere aprender siquiera, el arte ignominioso de destruir al hombre.

No hacen diez años aún, cuando las bestias doradas de la burguesía chilena, intentaron lanzar al pueblo a una matanza con nuestros hermanos de la Argentina.

En esa época el pueblo de Chile estaba dominado de su febril y destructor entusiasmo que convierte al hombre en bestia de destrucción, y habría marchado, como el cordero, resignado al matadero humano.

En cambio los trabajadores argentinos, en esa época, más civilizados que nosotros en esa materia, protestaban de la guerra en germen, y declaraban a gritos su amor hacia nosotros, y preferían el castigo antes de ir a vestir la casaca de la esclavitud militar, la casaca del verdugo del pueblo.

¡Que transformación!

Hoy nos damos al abrazo de la fraternidad de los trabajadores de todo el mundo y hasta donde es posible, declarando guerra a la guerra.

Si el servicio militar nos encadena por diez meses a la esclavitud del cuartel, es preferible el castigo que solo es dos meses mayor que dicho servicio, para que así sirva de protesta viviente a la corrupción burguesa.

El servicio militar lo combatimos porque solo lo hace el pobre y el rico se libra de él; porque el pobre es maltratado; porque en el cuartel se corrompe la conciencia; porque la disciplina es negación de la libertad y de la justicia; porque va contra el hombre, porque es vil aprender a matar y horrible ser asesino.

¡El servicio militar se derrumbo!

Han bastado diez años de campaña para hacer comprender al pueblo que el militarismo es la peor cadena que lo sujeta al carro de explotación y opresión.

Si el obrero protesta de los abusos patronales sables y metralletas lo hacen callar y lo doblegan.

Si se protesta de los abusos del gobierno o sus agentes habrán y prisiones y hasta patíbulos.

Y si el mismo pueblo es el que se arma, contra el pueblo, lógico es que se niegue a seguir por ese camino. No más armas ¡No más militares! ¡Queremos paz!

Sigamos combatiendo el militarismo, sin vacilar, sin cobardías. Hemos triunfado en gran parte. ¡Sigamos buscando triunfos!

Derrumbemos la brutalidad militar.

Elevemos la poesía de la paz.

He aqui un escrito de Recabarren en contra del militarismo como soporte ideologico de la reacción. Tiene validez hoy. Quizas el debate sigue siendo, la ciencia militar solo para hacer y defender la revolución, de lo contrario, oponerse al militarismo sigue siendo valido hoy mas que nunca, con Irak, Afganistan, Haiti, y otros escenarios del imperialismo. Reflexionemos sobre que modificaciones requiere la institución militar en nuestro país para abrir sus puertas a los hijos del pueblo, y ser un ente democratico al servicio del país, y no de los intereses de la burguesía o del imperio.

¿Era "nuestro" gobierno? Carta enviada de la Coordinadora de Cordones a Salvador Allende

A su Excelencia el Presidente de la República 5 de septiembre de 1973.
Compañero Salvador Allende:
Ha llegado el momento en que la clase obrera organizada en la Coordinadora Provincial de Cordones Industriales, el Comando Provincial de Abastecimiento Directo y el Frente Único de Trabajadores en conflicto ha considerado de urgencia dirigirse a usted, alarmados por el desencadenamiento de una serie de acontecimientos que creemos nos llevará no sólo a la liquidación del proceso revolucionario chileno, sino, a corto plazo, a un régimen fascista del corte más implacable y criminal.
Antes, teníamos el temor de que el proceso hacia el Socialismo se estaba transando para llegar a un Gobierno de centro, reformista, democráticoburgués que tendía a desmovilizar a las masas o a llevarlas a acciones insurreccionales de tipo anárquico por instinto de preservación.
Pero ahora, analizando los últimos acontecimientos, nuestro temor ya no es ése, ahora tenemos la certeza de que vamos en una pendiente que nos llevará inevitablemente al fascismo.
Por eso procedemos a enumerarle las medidas que, como representantes de la clase trabajadora, consideramos imprescindibles tomar.
En primer término, compañero, exigimos que se cumpla con el programa de la Unidad Popular, nosotros en 1970, no votamos por un hombre, votamos por un Programa.
Curiosamente, el Capítulo primero del Programa de la Unidad Popular se titula Poder Popular",
Citamos: Página 14 del programa:
"...Las fuerzas populares y revolucionarias no se han unido para luchar por la simple sustitución de un Presidente de la República por otro, ni para reemplazar a un partido por otros en el Gobierno, sino para llevar a cabo los cambios de fondo que la situación nacional exige, sobre la base del traspaso del poder de los antiguos grupos dominantes a los trabajadores, al campesinado y sectores progresistas de las capas medias..." "Transformar las actuales instituciones del Estado donde los trabajadores y el pueblo tengan el real ejercicio del poder..."
"...El Gobierno popular asentará esencialmente su fuerza y autoridad en el apoyo que le brinde el pueblo organizado..."
Página 15:
"...A través de una movilización de masas se constituirá desde las bases la nueva estructura del poder..."
Se habla de un programa de una nueva Constitución Política, de una Cámara Única, de la Asamblea del Pueblo, de un Tribunal Supremo con miembros asignados por la Asamblea del Pueblo. En el programa se indica que se rechazará el empleo de las Fuerzas Armadas para oprimir al pueblo... (Página 24).
Compañero Allende, si no le indicáramos que estas frases son citas del programa de la Unidad Popular, que era un programa mínimo para la clase, en este momento se nos diría que este es el lenguaje "ultra" de los cordones industriales.
Pero nosotros preguntamos, ¿dónde está el nuevo Estado? ¿La nueva Constitución Política, la Cámara Única, la Asamblea Popular, los Tribunales Supremos?
Han pasado tres años, compañero Allende y usted no se ha apoyado en las masas y ahora nosotros los trabajadores tenemos desconfianza.
Los trabajadores sentimos una honda frustración y desaliento cuando su Presidente, su Gobierno, sus partidos, sus organizaciones, les dan una y otra vez la orden de replegarse en vez de la voz de avanzar. Nosotros exigimos que no sólo se nos informe, sino que también se nos consulte sobre las decisiones, que al fin y al cabo son definitorias para nuestro destino.
Sabemos que en la historia de las revoluciones siempre han habido momentos para replegarse y momentos para avanzar, pero sabemos, tenemos la certeza absoluta, que en los últimos tres años podríamos haber ganado no sólo batallas parciales, sino la lucha total.
Haber tomado en esas ocasiones medidas que hicieran irrevocables el proceso, después del triunfo de la elección de Regidores del 71, el pueblo clamaba por un plebiscito y la disolución de un Congreso antagónico.
En octubre, cuando fue la voluntad y organización de la clase obrera que mantuvo al país caminando frente al paro patronal, donde nacieron los cordones industriales en el calor de esa lucha y se mantuvo la producción, el abastecimiento, el transporte, gracias al sacrificio de los trabajadores y se pudo dar el golpe mortal a la burguesía, usted no nos tuvo confianza, a pesar de que nadie puede negar la tremenda potencialidad revolucionaria demostrada por el proletariado, y le dio una salida que fue una bofetada a la clase obrera, instaurando un Gabinete cívicomilitar, con el agravante de incluir en él a dos dirigentes de la Central Única de Trabajadores, que al aceptar integrar estos ministerios, hicieron perder la confianza de la clase trabajadora en su organismo máximo.
Organismo, que cualquiera que fuese el carácter del Gobierno, debía mantenerse al margen para defender cualquier debilidad de éste frente a los problemas de los trabajadores.
A pesar del reflujo y desmovilización que esto produjo, de la inflación, las colas y las mil dificultades que los hombres y mujeres del proletariado vivían a diario, en las elecciones de marzo de 1973, mostraron una vez más su claridad y conciencia al darle un 43% de votos militantes a los candidatos de la Unidad Popular.
Allí también, compañero, se deberían haber tomado las medidas que el pueblo merecía y exigía para protegerlo del desastre que ahora presentimos.
Y ya el 29 de junio, cuando los generales y oficiales sediciosos aliados al Partido Nacional, Frei y Patria y Libertad se pusieron francamente en una posición de ilegalidad, se podría haber descabezado a los sediciosos y, apoyándose en el pueblo y dándole responsabilidad a los generales leales y a las fuerzas que entonces le obedecían, haber llevado el proceso hacia el triunfo, haber pasado a la ofensiva.
Lo que faltó en todas estas ocasiones fue decisión, decisión revolucionaria, lo que faltó fue confianza en las masas, lo que faltó fue conocimiento de su organización y fuerza, lo que faltó fue una vanguardia decidida y hegemónica.
Ahora los trabajadores no solamente tenemos desconfianza, estamos alarmados.
La derecha ha montado un aparato terrorista tan poderoso y bien organizado, que no cabe duda que está financiado y por la CIA. Matan obreros, hacen volar oleoductos, micros, ferrocarriles.
Producen apagones en dos provincias, atentan contra nuestros dirigentes, nuestros locales partidarios y sindicales.
¿Se les castiga o apresa?
¡No compañero!
Se castiga y apresa a los dirigentes de izquierda.
Los Pablos Rodríguez, los Benjamines Matte, confiesan abiertamente haber participado en el "Tanquetazo".
¿Se les allana y humilla?
¡No compañero!
Se allana Lanera Austral de Magellanes donde se asesina a un obrero y se tiene a los trabajadores de boca en la nieve durante horas y horas.
Los transportistas paralizan el país, dejando hogares humildes sin parafina, sin alimentos, sin medicamentos.
¿Se los veja, se los reprime?
¡No compañero!
Se veja a los obreros de Cobre Cerrillos, de Indugas, de Cemento Melón, de Cervecerías Unidas.
Frei, Jarpa y sus comparsas financiados por la ITT, llaman abiertamente a la sedición.
¿Se les desafuera, se les querella?
¡No compañero!
Se querella, se pide el desafuero de Palestro, de Altamirano, de Garretón, de los que defienden los derechos de la clase obrera
El 29 de junio se levantan generales y oficiales contra el Gobierno, ametrallando horas y horas el Palacio de la Moneda, produciendo 22 muertos.
¿Se les fusila, se los tortura?
¡No compañero!
Se tortura en forma inhumana a los marineros y suboficiales que defienden la Constitución, la voluntad del pueblo, y a usted, compañero Allende.
Patria y Libertad incita al golpe.
¿Se les apresa, se les castiga?
¡No compañero!, siguen dando conferencias de prensa, se les da salvoconductos para que conspiren en el extranjero.
Mientras se allana Sumar, donde mueren obreros y pobladores, y a los campesinos de Cautín, que defienden al Gobierno, se les somete a los castigos más implacables, paseándolos colgados de los pies, en helicópteros sobre las cabezas de sus familias hasta darles muerte.
Se le ataca a Ud. compañero, a nuestros dirigentes, y a través de ellos a los trabajadores en su conjunto en la forma más insolente y libertina por los medios de comunicaciones millonarios de la derecha.
¿Se les destruye, se les silencia?
¡No compañero!
Se silencia y se destruye a los medios de comunicación de izquierda, el canal 9 de TV, última posibilidad de voz de los trabajadores.
Y el 4 de septiembre, en el tercer aniversario del Gobierno de los trabajadores, mientras el pueblo, un millón cuatrocientos mil, salíamos a saludarlo, a mostrar nuestra decisión y conciencia revolucionaria, la FACH allanaba Mademsa, Madeco, Rittig, en una de las provocaciones más insolentes e inaceptables, sin que exista respuesta visible alguna.
Por todo lo planteado, compañero, nosotros los trabajadores, estamos de acuerdo en un punto con el señor Frei, que aquí hay sólo dos alternativas: la dictadura del proletariado o la dictadura militar.
Claro que el señor Frei también es ingenuo, porque cree que tal dictadura militar sería sólo de transición, para llevarlo a la postre a él a la Presidencia.
Estamos absolutamente convencidos de que históricamente el reformismo que se busca a través del diálogo con los que han traicionado una y otra vez, es el camino más rápido hacia el fascismo.
Y los trabajadores ya sabemos lo que es el fascismo.
Hasta hace poco era solamente una palabra que no todos los compañeros comprendíamos. Teníamos que recurrir a lejanos o cercanos ejemplos: Brasil, España, Uruguay, etc.
Pero ya lo hemos vivido en carne propia, en los allanamientos, en lo que está sucediendo a marinos y suboficiales, en lo que están sufriendo los compañeros de Asmar, Famae, los campesinos de Cautín.
Ya sabemos que el fascismo significa terminar con todas las conquistas logradas por la clase obrera, las organizaciones obreras, los sindicatos, el derecho a la huelga, los pliegos de peticiones.
Al trabajador que reclama sus más mínimos derechos humanos se lo despide, se lo aprisiona, tortura o asesina.
Consideramos no sólo que se nos está llevando por el camino que nos conducirá al fascismo en un plazo vertiginoso, sino que se nos ha estado privando de los medios para defendernos.
Por lo tanto le exigimos a usted, compañero Presidente, que se ponga a la cabeza de este verdadero Ejército sin armas, pero poderoso en cuanto a conciencia, decisión, que los partidos proletarios pongan de lado sus divergencias y se conviertan en verdadera vanguardia de esta masa organizada, pero sin dirección.
Exigimos:
1) Frente al paro de los transportistas, la requisición inmediata de los camiones sin devolución por los organismos de masas y la creación de una Empresa Estatal de Transportes, para que nunca más esté en las manos de estos bandidos la posibilidad de paralizar el país.
2) Frente al paro criminal del Colegio Médico, exigimos que se les aplique la Ley de Seguridad Interior del Estado, para que nunca más esté en las manos de estos mercenarios de la salud, la vida de nuestras mujeres e hijos. Todo el apoyo a los médicos patriotas.
3) Frente al paro de los comerciantes, que no se repita el error de octubre en que dejamos en claro que no los necesitábamos como gremio. Que se ponga fin a la posibilidad de que estos traficantes confabulados con los transportistas, pretendan sitiar al pueblo por hambre. Que se establezca de una vez por todas la distribución directa, los almacenes populares, la canasta popular.
Que se pase al área social las industrias alimenticias que aún están en las manos del pueblo.
4) Frente al área social: Que no sólo no se devuelva ninguna empresa donde exista la voluntad mayoritaria de los trabajadores de que sean intervenidas, sino que ésta pase a ser el área predominante de la economía.
Que se fije una nueva política de precios.
Que la producción y distribución de las industrias del área social sea discriminada. No más producción de lujo para la burguesía. Que se ejerza verdadero control obrero dentro de ellas.
5) Exigimos que se derogue la Ley de Control de Armas. Nueva "Ley Maldita" que sólo ha servido para vejar a los trabajadores, con los allanamientos practicados a las industrias y poblaciones, que está sirviendo como un ensayo general para los sectores respuesta de la clase obrera en un intento para intimidarlos e identificar a sus dirigentes.
6) Frente a la inhumana represión a los marineros de Valparaíso y Talcahuano, exigimos la inmediata libertad de estos hermanos de clase heroicos, cuyos nombres ya están grabados en las páginas de la historia de Chile. Que se identifique y se castigue a los culpables.
7) Frente a las torturas y muerte de nuestros hermanos campesinos de Cautín, exigimos un juicio público y el castigo correspondiente de los responsables.
8) Para todos los implicados en intentos de derrocar el Gobierno legítimo, la pena máxima.
9) Frente al conflicto del Canal 9 de TV, que este medio de comunicación de los trabajadores no se entregue ni se transe por ningún motivo.
10) Protestamos por la destitución del compañero Jaime Faivovic, Subsecretario de Transportes.
11) Pedimos que a través suyo se le manifieste todo nuestro apoyo al Embajador de Cuba, compañero Mario García Incháustegui, y, a todos los compañeros cubanos perseguidos por lo más granado de la reacción y que le ofrezca nuestros barrios proletarios para que allí establezcan su embajada y su residencia, como forma de agradecerle a ese pueblo, lo que hasta ha llegado a privarse de su propia ración de pan para ayudarnos en nuestra lucha.
Que se expulse al Embajador norteamericano, que a través de sus personeros, el Pentágono, la CIA, la ITT, proporciona probadamente instructores y financiamiento a los sediciosos.
12) Exigimos la defensa y protección de Carlos Altamirano, Mario Palestro, Miguel Henríquez, Oscar Gerretón, perseguidos por la derecha y la Fiscalía naval por defender valientemente los derechos del pueblo, con o sin uniforme.
Le advertimos compañero, que con el respeto y la confianza que aun le tenemos, si no se cumple con el programa de la Unidad Popular, si no confía en las masas, perderá el único apoyo real que tiene como persona y gobernante y que será responsable de llevar el país, no a una guerra civil, que ya está en pleno desarrollo, sino que a la masacre fría, planificada, de la clase obrera más consciente y organizada de Latino América. Y que será responsabilidad histórica de este Gobierno, llevado al poder y mantenido con tanto sacrificio por los trabajadores, pobladores, campesinos, estudiantes, intelectuales, profesionales, a la destrucción y descabezamiento, quizás a qué plazo, y a qué costa sangriento, de no sólo el proceso revolucionario chileno, sino también el de todos los pueblos latinoamericanos que están luchando por el Socialismo.
Le hacemos este llamado urgente, compañero Presidente, porque creemos que ésta es la última posibilidad de exitar en conjunto, la pérdida de las vidas de miles y miles de lo mejor de la clase obrera chilena y latinoamericana.

Aquí comienza otra escaramuza en la red, la primera fue exitosa y es por todos reconocido que superó las espectativas.
Desde esta nueva tribuna la idea es recopilar y exponer ideas viejas y nuevas ojalá mas nuevas, aunque tal vez sea mucho pedir.
El nuevo orden al que aspiramos no tiene nada de "orden" más bien propende a la heterogeneidad y tampoco a la tolerancia ya que no necesitamos tolerar ni aguantar a nadie.
